Detailed descriptions
1. Templates for Software Configuration Management
Set of templates for Software Configuration Management Documents for IEC 62304, ISO/IEC 15288, ISO/IEC 12207.
PDF-file, 106 pages, Item No.: RCG024ASEP, Published August 2009
In this revision 5.0, the CM templates have been reviewed and updated to satisfy the Software CM requirements of IEC 62304, Medical device software – Software life cycle processes. This includes updates to the Change Control and Software Release templates so that they can be used for the IEC 62304 Problem Resolution and Software Release processes as well. In addition, as part of this update, the traceability section has been updated to show clearly and succinctly how the standards 12207, 15288, and 62304 relate to one another.
This set of 13 CM templates provide a standards-based, ready-to-use baseline that enables you to immediately and effectively begin the configuration management process. This document contains a set of templates that enable engineers and managers to implement effective, standards-compliant software configuration management (CM). The templates found in this document conform to the software CM requirements specified in standards ISO/IEC 12207:2008, Software life cycle processes, ISO/IEC 15288:2008, System life cycle processes, and IEC 62304, Medical Device Software – Software Life Cycle Processes. This baseline provides a framework for assuring that customer quality requirements will be met. This document contains a set of templates for software configuration management (CM) documents, processes, and procedures. For software CM processes and related activities and artefacts, these standards-driven templates provide generic descriptions and instructions that, as needed, can be tailored to specific organization or project needs. This template package is applicable to manual or automated methods. It can be used to manage a highly critical 10-line software work products as well as complex programs containing 1 million lines of code.
This set of templates will aid a software engineer, without extensive knowledge of software configuration management to implement this process. No expensive training or extensive experience is necessary to use the templates. To help users understand more about the processes being supported, explanatory text and diagrams accompany the templates.>BR> Thirteen different templates are provided. Document templates are provided for software configuration management policy, strategy, plan, and organization. A process template is provided for the overall software configuration management process. Procedure templates are provided for software configuration management identification, change control, status accounting, check-in/check-out, audits and reviews, and product release and delivery. Procedure templates are also provided for subcontractor and external interface CM. In addition to these templates, this document provides five different aids to help support the CM process. The aids are a document approval matrix, a list of the recommended contents for a software change request, a list of the recommended contents for a status accounting record, a list of common CM acronyms, and some information on standards.
CM is a key requirement for software engineers who design, build, and deliver a quality, error-free product. These templates help insure that this requirement is fully met.
2. Template for a Software Maintenance Plan
Template for implementation of operation and maintenance processes according to ISO/IEC 12207 and ISO/IEC 14764
PDF-file, 38 pages, Item No.: RCG025ASEP, published June 2008
This template of a software maintenance plan helps with the implementation of the operation and maintenance processes that are the important last phase of a software engineering lifecycle. The template meets the requirements of the international standards ISO/IEC 12207: 2008, systems and software engineering – software life cycle processes and ISO/IEC 14764: 2006, systems and software engineering – software life cycle processes – maintenance as well as the USA standard IEEE Std 14764: 2006, Software Engineering – Software Life Cycle Processes – Maintenance.
No extensive knowledge of software maintenance is required in order to implement this process. The template was developed by an international authority in software maintenance who possesses years of hands-on, practical experience in software maintenance.
This maintenance plan template is neither theory nor an academic exercise. Wording and recommendations used by the author are based on his experience in the planning and the actual maintenance of software systems. The template incorporates the latest commercial standards for software maintenance. It provides a detailed maintenance process. The template’s illustrative text is designed for use as is, by stripping the tutorial notations underlined in the text. The text can also be modified for requirements and guidance to meet organizational needs and unique environments. This template is applicable to all types of software from information technology, commercial, scientific, and other non-business applications (such as creating a complex web site).
3. Template for a System Documentation Mgmt. Plan
The template satisfies ISO/IEC 15288:2008, System Life Cycle Processes, Section 6.3.6
PDF-file, 95 pages. Item No.: RCG026BSEP, published December 2009
This Template provides guidance for the development of a System Documentation Management Plan that satisfies the documentation requirements of ISO/IEC 15288:2008, System Life Cycle Processes Sec 6.3.6 Information Management Process. It defines in detail over 250 required or suggested items of documentation.
This easy to use template will aid system engineers without broad knowledge of system documentation management to implement this critical process.
Documentation management is the tool required by users to ensure the right product is being built and delivered. At the same time, users want assurance that the product is being developed under well managed and controlled conditions. A Documentation Management Plan that is developed with this template will meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 and provide users with the needed information to understand and approve a provider’s documentation process, while giving to provider personnel a roadmap to create documents and ensure the documents match the delivered product.
The template gives an overview of over 250 documentation types (Plans, Documents and Records) that a typical system project will produce.
Addressed are:
1. Documentation processes that are applicable to small, large, critical and non-critical projects
2. Document management process information
3. Recommended wording, format and approaches for a typical documentation plan
4. Requirements of ISO/IEC 15288:2008
5. Documentation managing issues
6. Documentation processes that are relative to manual and automated (computer processes) methods
4. Template for a Software Documentation Mgmt. Plan
This template satisfies the requirements of ISO/IEC 12207:2008 Clause 6.3.6.
PDF-file, 103 pages, Item No.: RCG021BSEP, published December 2009
This revision 2 of this template provides guidance for developing a Software Documentation Management Plan to address documentation issues and satisfy the ISO/IEC 12207:2008, Software life cycle processes (2008) Clause 6.3.6 Information Management Process. It defines in detail over 300 required or suggested documentation items.
A Software Documentation Management Plan Template meeting the requirements of ISO/IEC 12207:2008 will aid software engineers, without broad knowledge of software documentation management, to implement this critical process. No expensive training or extensive experience is necessary to use this Template. More and more, documentation management is the tool required by users to ensure the right product is being built and delivered. At the same time, users want assurance that the product is being built under well managed and controlled conditions. This Documentation Management Plan Template will provide users with the needed information to understand and approve a provider’s documentation process, while giving provider personnel a roadmap to create documents and ensure the documents match the delivered product.
It gives an overview of over 300 documentation types (Plans, Documents and Records) that a typical software project will produce during its use
